Habitat for the Future
Ecosystem Protection focuses on protecting the natural systems that keep life on Earth healthy and connected. Ecosystems include forests, oceans, wetlands, rivers, grasslands, reefs, deserts, coastlines, and the plants, animals, insects, fungi, soil, water, and climate systems that work together within them.
When ecosystems are damaged by land clearing, pollution, overdevelopment, climate change, invasive species, or poor environmental decisions, the impacts can spread far beyond one place or one species. Protecting ecosystems helps protect wildlife, biodiversity, clean air, fresh water, healthy soil, food security, and climate stability.
At Habitat for the Future, we believe ecosystem protection is one of the most important actions we can take for future generations. When we protect ecosystems, we protect the living systems that protect us.
